The plant selector, all plant data, the image credits, and every article on this site are free to use, forever, with no account required. You may reference them, share links, and use what you learn in your own yard or your own work.
Membership unlocks the Planting Plan Builder. Two options:
Membership is unlocked in your own browser. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, use the “I’ve already joined — unlock” button to restore it. Membership is personal — please do not share your unlock with the internet at large.
“Lifetime” means the operating life of the product, not your biological lifespan. If Via Varia ever shuts the tool down, lifetime members get at least 90 days’ notice and an export of anything they have built.
Digital products are sold and delivered through Gumroad under Gumroad’s terms. When you buy one, you get a personal, non-exclusive licence to:
You may not resell, redistribute, sublicense, or publish these files; strip the branding and pass them off as your own; use them as the basis of a competing product; or feed them to a machine-learning system for training. Design professionals who want to use these with clients should get in touch about a commercial licence — the answer is usually yes.
If a digital product is not what you expected, say so within 30 days and you get a full refund. No form, no interrogation, no “did you try it first”. Memberships are refundable within 30 days of purchase on the same basis. Email us; refunds are issued through the original processor.
Do not scrape the plant database wholesale, republish it as your own dataset, attempt to break the site or its paywall, or use the site to do anything unlawful. Reasonable personal use is always fine.
Via Varia provides general educational information about plants and landscapes in Florida. It is not a landscape architecture, arboriculture, engineering, or horticultural consulting service, and no professional-client relationship is created by using this site or buying anything from it.
No one at Via Varia has visited your property, tested your soil, evaluated your drainage, inspected your trees, or reviewed your local codes, deed restrictions, or HOA rules. Plant performance depends on site conditions, installation quality, maintenance, weather, and luck — most of which are outside anyone’s control.
You must engage a licensed professional for: any tree with a structural defect, decay, lean, or proximity to a structure; anything involving grading, drainage, or water moving toward a foundation; permits, code compliance, or protected-tree ordinances; anything near utilities; and any situation where failure could injure someone or damage property. Always call 811 before you dig.
Toxicity notes are provided as a general flag and are not a complete list. If a person or animal ingests plant material, call a medical professional, a veterinarian, or Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) — do not rely on this website.
Plant data is derived from UF/IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ and EDIS publications and other Florida university research, cited on each plant. Via Varia is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or speaking on behalf of the University of Florida, UF/IFAS, or the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ programme. Research findings are summarised in good faith; where a note is an editorial read rather than a citation, it is labelled as such.
Site text, design, code, guides, and templates are © KRC Designs LLC. “Via Varia” and the viaVARIA wordmark are our marks. Plant photographs belong to their photographers and are used under the licences listed on the credits page — those licences travel with the images, not with us.
The site and everything on it are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the information is complete, current, or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KRC Designs LLC’s total liability arising out of or relating to the site or any product is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including plant loss, property damage, or lost profits. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the maximum extent permitted.
You agree to indemnify KRC Designs LLC against claims arising from your misuse of the site or its materials, or your breach of these terms.
These terms may change; the effective date will change with them, and continued use means acceptance. We may suspend access for abuse under section 5. Sections 6, 8, 9, and 10 survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Venue for any dispute is Sarasota County, Florida. Nothing here limits any right you have under mandatory consumer-protection law where you live.
