Short version: an email address if you give one, anonymous page counts, and nothing else. No ad trackers, no data sold, ever.
Effective August 24, 2026
This policy explains what Via Varia (“we”, “us”) collects when you use viavaria.co, why, and what you can do about it. Via Varia is a DBA of KRC Designs LLC, Sarasota, Florida.
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | Only if you submit the sign-up form | To send the planting calendar and the weekly email |
| Anonymous page views | Every visit | To know which pages are worth improving |
| Payment details | Only if you buy something | Handled entirely by Stripe or Gumroad — we never see or store your card |
| Your plant picks and membership flag | When you use the tools | Stored in your own browser only. Never transmitted to us |
The plant selector and planting plan builder save two things in your own browser using localStorage: the list of plants you have picked, and a flag recording that you have unlocked membership. This data never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Clearing your browser data clears both, and you would need to click “I’ve already joined — unlock” again.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
If you join the list you will get the free Florida Planting Calendar, a short welcome sequence, and roughly one useful email a week. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. Unsubscribing removes you immediately and permanently — there is no win-back sequence and no re-adding you later.
Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Anonymous analytics are retained by Cloudflare on their own schedule and are not tied to you. Purchase records are retained by Stripe and Gumroad as required for tax and accounting.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. Email us and it gets done — normally within a few days, and always within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the EU or UK, our lawful basis is your consent for email, and legitimate interest for anonymous analytics. If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
The site is served over HTTPS. We hold very little data in the first place, which is the most effective security control available. Payment and email data live with the processors listed above, each of which maintains its own security programme.
We link to UF/IFAS, EDIS, Wikimedia Commons, Gumroad, and others. Once you leave this site, their policies apply, not ours.
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes and subscribers are told by email. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
